What is Daylight Saving Time (DST)? It's a cleverly designed system to make more efficient use of daylight. By adjusting the local time forward during summer months, we can make a closer match between daylight hours and the hours of the most common activities, like school and work. If we didn't save this time, it would be wasted as most people sleep well past dawn.
Daylight Saving begins for most of us on the first Sunday in April at 2:00 am. We then move the clock forward one hour we effectively swap one hour of sunlight to the end of the day, from the beginning of the day. Again, most people sleep past dawn anyway, so this idea makes great use of natural light. Obviously many believe DST is an energy conservation component, because it makes us less dependent on electric lights. But others dispel that theory because we use more Air Conditioning or operate and engage in more activities that totally negate anything we gained. That makes sense. But I couldn't care about this enough to continue to discuss this, so let's just enjoy the calculator below:) Afterall, you just wanna know when to change your clocks, no?
The biggest problem is that most people forget when Daylight Saving begins (or ends), because it's a variable annual event, and doesn't conveniently fall on the same day each year. So we now have a calculator for you to learn exactly when Daylight Saving occurs - every year for the next 90+ years. I hope that's enough:)
